That's what we come out to establish, and it usually can't be judged from the driver's seat. A battery that's simply gone flat will take a jump and recharge on a run; one that's actually failed will start on a jump and be dead again in a day or two. We load-test the battery and check the alternator is charging, so you find out which before you spend anything.
Can you replace the battery where the car is parked?
Yes — on a driveway, at the kerbside, in a station car park or a multi-storey. We carry stock for the cars we see most, including stop/start AGM and EFB batteries, and code the new battery to the car where the model needs it. The old one goes back with us for recycling.
What if the battery isn't the problem?
We'll tell you rather than sell you one anyway. If it's the alternator, the starter, an earth fault or the immobiliser, we'll say so on the spot — and because we're a garage with our own recovery truck, the car can come to the workshop the same day instead of you arranging it separately.
Can you fit batteries to stop/start cars?
Yes. Stop/start cars need an AGM or EFB battery rather than a standard one, and on many models the new battery has to be registered to the car's charging system afterwards. Skip that step and the car undercharges the new battery and it fails early — it's one of the most common reasons a battery fitted cheaply elsewhere doesn't last. We carry the right types and do the coding where the car needs it.
Do you carry batteries with you, or is it a second visit?
We carry stock for the cars we see most, so the majority of jobs are done in one visit. For anything less common we can usually get the correct battery the same day rather than fitting something that only nearly fits. Send the registration over first and we'll confirm the exact type before we come out.
Do you take the old battery away?
Yes, always, and it's included. Car batteries are hazardous waste — they shouldn't go in a household bin or be left at the roadside. Ours go back with us for proper recycling.
Are you available at night and at weekends?
