What your BMW 3 Series is actually worth at scrap
The 3 Series is one of the most-traded scrap cars at UK breakers because it's the UK's most popular executive saloon. The 320d in particular accounts for the majority of what we collect — its N47 and B47 engines are in constant demand for swaps into other 3 Series and 1 Series cars. Manual gearboxes from M Sport trim, M Performance brakes, and full leather Sport interiors all carry premium resale.
Catalytic converter alone: £220-£500 on petrol and diesel models. If yours has been stolen or removed, expect roughly £80-£200 off the typical range — we'll factor it in honestly when you send the reg, not surprise you on collection.
What breakers buy your BMW 3 Series for
We don't just sell your car as raw steel. We shop it to specialist breakers who pay premium for the parts that hold value on this model:

Years covered: 1998-2020 (E46, E90, F30, G20 generations)
Recent BMW 3 Series we collected
"Picked up a 2013 320d M Sport Touring from Basildon two weeks ago — timing chain had stretched and the owner had been quoted £2,200 for engine rebuild. 168k miles, full BMWSH, mint M Sport leather. Paid £310 cash. Engine went to a specialist for parts; the full M Sport interior went to a separate trim breaker."

Most 3 Series we scrap are 10-16 years old, often a high-mileage company-car driver whose timing chain, swirl flap, or DPF issue has tipped the next service into 'not worth it' territory.
How it works
1. WhatsApp us with your reg
Send the registration number, the model, and a quick description of the condition (running, non-running, MOT failure, etc.). One photo is helpful but not essential.
2. We shop your BMW 3 Series around and quote you
We get prices from the licensed scrap yards and specialist breakers we work with — the people who pay top whack for BMW parts in particular — and come back to you with the best one. Usually within minutes. No obligation if you don't like the number.
3. We collect, pay you, and handle the paperwork
Once you accept, we arrange a collection time that suits you — same-day where possible. We pay you cash on collection, take the car to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility, and make sure your DVLA notification and Certificate of Destruction come through properly.
Any condition — we'll take it
We collect BMW 3 Seriess in any state, including:
BMW 3 Series scrap — frequently asked
My 3 Series has a stretched timing chain — common N47 issue. Is it still worth scrapping?
Yes. The N47 timing chain is one of BMW's best-known faults and breakers fully expect to see it. The car retains value in the gearbox, body panels, interior, and other components — we'll still pay £200-£320 even with a tired engine. WhatsApp us the reg and condition.
How much is a BMW M3 worth as scrap?
Significantly more than a standard 3 Series — typically £1,000-£3,000+ for a complete M3 (especially E46 and E92 generations) because of the engine, brakes, body kit, and interior. These aren't standard scrap quotes. WhatsApp us with the reg and we'll get specialist M-car breakers involved.
Will you collect a 3 Series with a blown turbo?
Yes. Blown turbos on the 320d are very common and we collect them weekly. The rest of the car — gearbox, interior, body, brakes — retains full scrap value. No need to fix it before we collect.
Do I need to be there when you collect the car?
Yes — we'll need to see your ID, the V5C if you have it, and have you sign the disposal paperwork. The whole collection takes about 10-15 minutes.
What if I've lost the V5C (logbook)?
Not a problem. We can still collect — we'll help you handle the DVLA notification. It just takes a little longer to process.
Will I get a Certificate of Destruction?
Yes. We deliver every car to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) and the CoD comes through to you within 7-14 days. This is what legally clears you of any future liability for the car.
