Terms of Service

These terms cover what to expect when you request a scrap-car quote or collection from Prime Automotive Shoeburyness LTD ("Prime Auto", "we"). They're written in plain English. By using this site or accepting a quote from us, you agree to them.

Who we are

What we do

We're a scrap-car collection and brokerage service. When you send us a quote request, we:

• Look up your vehicle on the DVLA's free public database to verify make, model, year, and status
• Contact licensed Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs) on your behalf to find the best price for your vehicle
• Reply to you with a quote — usually on WhatsApp within ~2 hours during business hours
• If you accept, collect the vehicle from your address (free across Essex and most of the UK) and deliver it to the licensed ATF
• Notify the DVLA of the disposal on your behalf and arrange for you to receive a Certificate of Destruction

We do not operate a scrap yard ourselves. We act as the broker and collection agent between you and the licensed ATFs that physically dismantle the vehicle.

Quotes are estimates

Any quote we give before seeing the car is an estimate based on what you've told us and the DVLA-verified vehicle details. The final price may be adjusted on collection if the car is materially different from what was described — for example, if the engine doesn't run, parts are missing, the vehicle has serious accident damage, or the reg/VIN doesn't match what was provided.

We will always tell you the final price before we drive the car away. You can decline at that point with no obligation — we'll leave the car where we found it.

Ownership and payment

• You retain legal ownership of the vehicle until we've collected it and paid you in full.
• We pay on collection, by your choice of cash on the doorstep or bank transfer (cleared before we leave).
• You're responsible for ensuring the vehicle is yours to scrap — i.e. you're the registered keeper or have the registered keeper's permission, and there's no outstanding finance.
• We handle the V5C notification to the DVLA and you'll receive a Certificate of Destruction from the ATF within ~7 working days of collection.

Cancellation

You can cancel at any time before collection at no cost — just let us know on WhatsApp or by phone. After collection, the sale is final.

Limitation of liability

We do everything we can to deliver on quotes and timings, but we can't be held liable for delays caused by traffic, weather, ATF availability, DVLA processing times, or any cause outside our reasonable control. Our maximum liability for any single transaction is the value of the agreed quote.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud.

Privacy

How we handle your data is covered in our Privacy Policy. The short version: we share your data only with the parties needed to do the job (DVLA, the ATF that buys the car, and our email/WhatsApp delivery providers), and we never sell it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be settled in the courts of England and Wales.
